The Josie Neal Roberts and Forrest E. Roberts Memorial Scholarship was established by Mr. & Mrs. Forrest E. Roberts, Jr. in 2003.

Mr. Forrest E. Roberts moved to Carthage in 1934 and was employed by the Soil Conservation Service. In 1935 he married Ms. Josie Neal and they had one son, Forrest E. Roberts Jr. He founded Roberts Implement Company with his brother Roy and had a ranch just east of town, which is the present location of the Carthage Country Club and Sharpe Field. The Roberts resided in Carthage until the late 70s.

Upon Mr. Roberts’ death in 1993, Josie moved back to Carthage to be near her twin brother, John Neal and his wife Sue. She resided in Carthage until her death in 1999.

The Josie Neal Roberts and Forrest E. Roberts Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving student.
