Born on November 30, 1945, in Texarkana, Arkansas, Bro. Freddy Mason dedicated his life to faith, education, and service to others. A member of the Carthage High School Class of 1963, he continued his education at Panola College, where he was actively involved in campus life. During his time as a student, he served as Sophomore Class President and Choir President, was nominated as Green Jackets Sweetheart, earned Dean's List and Honor Roll recognition, participated in One Act Plays, and was selected as an All-Star Cast member.

After earning his associate degree from Panola College, Bro. Freddy received his bachelor's degree from East Texas Baptist University before completing his divinity degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

For 57 years, Bro. Freddy faithfully served as pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in the Snap Community of Panola County. Throughout his ministry, he touched countless lives by leading generations of families through baptisms, weddings, funerals, and spiritual guidance, leaving a lasting legacy of faith and compassion.

In addition to his ministry, Bro. Freddy devoted many years to Panola College as both a faculty member and Director of the Baptist Student Ministry. At the time of his retirement, he served as Dean of the Liberal Arts Department, where he influenced generations of students through his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to education.

Bro. Freddy married Suzanne Treadwell on June 15, 1990, in Clayton, Texas. He was also a longtime member of the Carthage Noon Lions Club and the 100 Men of East Texas, reflecting his lifelong dedication to serving his community.

Bro. Freddy Mason's legacy lives on through the lives he impacted as a pastor, educator, mentor, and friend. Those who knew him remember his unwavering faith, servant's heart, and genuine love for others. Through this scholarship, his commitment to education and service will continue to inspire and support Panola College students for generations to come.
