The Charles Ross and Fay Giles Honorary Scholarship was established in 2002 in honor of the late Charles Ross Giles and his wife Fay Giles.

The endowment was created by their children in honor and celebration of their years as devoted parents. Their commitment and selfless natures insured that each of their four children, upon completion of high school, enhanced their education at Panola College and completed degrees at Stephen F. Austin State University. Panola College provided affordable associate degrees in the 1960s and 70s to their two daughters and twin sons.

Mr. Giles was an employee with over thirty years of service for the Texas Department of Transportation, and Mrs. Giles was a homemaker. The couple resided on their farm for fifty years in Longbranch, Texas. Upon the death of Mr. Giles, Fay moved very close to the campus of Panola College and enjoyed her watching her grandchildren attend classes there.

The Charles Ross and Fay Giles Honorary Endowed Scholarship will be awarded each year to a deserving Panola County student. The selection and announcement naming the recipient will be made every spring.
