About Placement Testing

A placement test is a test given to a student entering an educational institution to determine specific knowledge or proficiency in various subjects for the purpose of assignment to appropriate courses or classes. 

Prior to Testing

  1. Contact Student Services at 903-693-2036.

  2. You must complete the TSI Pre-Assessment Activity. Your Certificate of Completion will be sent to you via email. You must bring the printed certificate or you must forward your certificate to admissionstesting@panola.edu with you when you come to test.

Identification

One of the following forms of valid identification with a current photo is required to test:

  • Driver's License
  • State-Issued/Approved ID
  • Federal ID (such as Passport, Military, Naturalization, or Tribal ID)
  • Primary or Secondary School ID
  • College Board Test Taker ID Form

Testing Fee

The testing fee is $30.00 for a full test or $15.00 for an individual section of the test. All fees are non-refundable.

Because there is a 14-day check-clearing period for all personal checks, individuals are strongly encouraged to pay by cash, money order, or cashier's check.

The TSI Assessment Test is administered throughout the year. The dates and times may vary based on the campus location. Please contact your chosen testing campus site for scheduling.

How to Cancel a Test

If you need to cancel or reschedule your testing appointment, please do so before the test date as other students are waiting for a time.

GED Testing Information

About GED Testing

Many adults who did not complete a high school program of instruction have continued to learn through a variety of experiences encountered in everyday life. The purpose of the GED Testing program is to provide an opportunity for these individuals to have the learning acquired from such educational experiences evaluated and recognized. The GED tests make it possible for qualified individuals to earn a high school credential, thus providing opportunities for hundreds of thousands of adults to:

  • Pursue higher education
  • Obtain job or job promotions
  • Achieve personal goals

The Tests of General Educational Development (GED Tests) are internationally recognized. GED tests are offered at Panola College in English and Spanish.

PRE-REGISTRATION: Create an account at least 24 hours prior to the desired test date.

 

IDENTIFICATION: Students are required to provide one valid form of identification. The ID must be government-issued and non-expired. It must also include the student's name, address, date of birth, signature, and photograph. The following primary forms of ID are acceptable:

  • Passport
  • Driver's License
  • Learner's Permit
  • National/State/Country Identification Card
  • Any other form of government-issued ID (national or foreign), including Matricular Consular.

(All IDs are subject to the approval of the Chief Examiner)

TESTING FEE: The GED testing fee is $145.00 for the full battery of tests. The cost per test is $36.25. All payments for test fees are handled through Pearson VUE at the time of scheduling. You may pay for the test through the use of a credit card or debit card.

AGE:  A person who is 18 years of age or older, who is a resident of the state, and who has not graduated from an accredited high school in the United States, may test. Candidates under the age of 18 must provide documentation as required at www.ged.com.

RESIDENCY:  Examinees must be a resident of the state or a member of the United States armed forces, stationed at a Texas installation. There is no time requirement for residency.

EDUCATIONAL STATUS:  Examinees must be officially withdrawn from school and must not have received a high school diploma from an accredited high school in the United States. Graduates of unaccredited schools and foreign high schools are eligible to test.

SUPPLIES:  Examinees will be provided an erasable note board and pen. Please do not bring additional papers/books to the testing center.

RETESTING:  Candidates may take their first three attempts per subject area with no waiting period. All subsequent attempts are subject to a 60 day waiting period between attempts.

Accommodations for People with Disabilities

If you have a documented disability that could keep you from taking the GED Tests in the way in which they are usually given, you might be entitled to receive testing accommodations. Accommodations are available for people with (but not limited to) the following:

  • Physical disabilities (such as blindness, low vision, deafness, impaired hearing, or mobility impairments)
  • Learning disabilities (such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, receptive aphasia, or written language disorder)
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
  • Psychological disabilities (such as bipolar disorder or Tourette's syndrome)
  • Chronic health issues.

Request A Duplicate GED Certificate

TEA no longer mails duplicate certificates/transcripts through the US Postal Service. All record verifications and Certificate/Transcript Requests must be made using the automated system. This system also allows you to search for your records online, verify record authenticity, and purchase and print your certificate immediately.  The cost of the certificate is $5.00 and can be paid by electronic check or credit card.

Health Education Systems, Inc Admission Assessment (HESI A2)

ABOUT HESI A2 TESTING

HESI A2 is an assessment exam for prospective nursing students. It is utilized as part of the program application ranking process for both Panola College ADN and VN programs.

Prospective nursing students MUST schedule, take, and receive passing scores for the HESI A2 prior to scheduling an application mentoring appointment with the Panola College Nursing Department.

Panola College Nursing Programs require only three specific sections of the HESI A2 including Reading, Grammar, and Math.

If taking the HESI A2 for a different institution's entrance program then the sections that are available to you include Learning Styles, Personality Profile, Vocabulary, Reading, Anatomy & Physiology, Grammar, Math, Chemistry, and Biology. Please verify which sections you will need before your testing date. 

  • You are only allowed to take the HESI A2 twice unless both score reports are older than 5 years.
  • If you are not successful the first time, please take your time studying. This will help ensure that you are ready for your final retest.
  • HESI Score Reports older than 5 years prior to the application deadline date are not accepted by Panola Nursing Program.
  • Retesting
    • An examinee may retest if their score reports are over 5 years old. 
    • The ONLY exception to testing more than twice within a 5 year period is if and only if,  the examinee has earned their LVN license and wants to apply for the Panola College ADN Program. This means that the examinee needs to provide the required  score report which includes a Cumulative PASSING score on all 3 exams (Math, Reading, and Grammar).

SCHEDULING

All examinees will be required to agree to the Panola College Testing Agreement upon arrival at the testing center.

An accessible online calculator is available during the exam and you will be provided with blank scratch paper and pencil.

ABOUT TCFP CERTIFICATION EXAMS

Steps for TCFP Exams:

  1. Create a FIDO account.
  2. Follow the FIDO account instructions for testing application process and payment arrangements. You will receive a testing approval confirmation via email.
  3. Contact the Panola College Business Office at 903-693-2082 to pay a non-refundable proctor fee of $30.00.
  4. Schedule your appointment for the test. Call 903-693-2036 or email admissionstesting@panola.edu.
  5. On testing day, report to Panola College Testing Services located in the Charles C.Matthews Foundation Student Center, 2nd floor.
