Emily Zabcik named Dean of Academic Transfer

Panola College is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Zabcik as Dean of Academic Transfer. Most recently, Zabcik served as Department Chair of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Preparatory Studies at Panola College, where she provided strategic leadership for the department, oversaw curriculum planning and instructional quality, and developed new academic pathways to support student success.

Throughout her tenure at Panola College, Zabcik has played a key role in advancing academic quality, strengthening student support services, and improving student outcomes. Her experience includes curriculum development, institutional effectiveness planning, grant administration, online learning initiatives, and the creation of innovative programs designed to help students succeed. She has also led efforts to improve developmental education pathways and expand academic resources for students.

“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as Dean of Academic Transfer at Panola College,” said Zabcik. “Panola College has been an important part of my life for many years, first as a student and later as a faculty member, allowing me to experience firsthand the life-changing impact of community colleges. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this institution and look forward to working alongside our outstanding faculty and staff to support student success.”

As Dean of Academic Transfer, Zabcik will provide leadership and oversight for academic transfer programs across the College’s campuses. She will work closely with faculty and academic leadership on curriculum development and academic policy, manage articulation agreements with four-year institutions, and support assessment, program review, and academic planning processes aligned with accreditation standards.

A Panola College alumna, Zabcik earned an Associate of Science degree from Panola College before completing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas at Tyler. Throughout her career, she has served in numerous leadership roles supporting curriculum development, institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, and student success.
