Panola College is proud to announce a significant milestone in its ongoing partnership with Stephen F. Austin State University. The two institutions have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding, emphasizing the importance of earning an associate degree before transferring to a four-year university.

Under this agreement, students who complete their associate degree will qualify for an additional scholarship to SFA. This initiative is designed not only to reward academic achievement but also to provide students with the skills and confidence needed to thrive at SFA. The MOU represents more than just a formal agreement – it is an investment in the futures of students.

Representatives from SFA attended the signing ceremony, including Dr. Neal Weaver, president of SFA, and Dr. Kent Willis, senior vice president of enrollment and student engagement. Both Dr. Weaver and Dr. Willis provided brief remarks about the partnership and the value of completing an associate degree before transferring.

As part of the agreement, students will benefit from guaranteed admission to SFA, up to 90 transferrable credit hours, access to personalized academic advising, and special recruitment events. These resources are designed to help ease the transition to SFA and provide a strong foundation for success. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to connect with other transfer students, fostering a supportive community as they continue their academic journey.

Before the MOU signing, Panola College hosted a college day where students had the chance to meet with SFA program representatives and learn about the wide range of academic programs offered at the university.

“We are proud to continue this collaboration, which reflects our shared commitment to student success,” said Dr. Jessica Pace, president of Panola College. “Together, Panola College and SFA are creating clear pathways for students to reach their academic goals and fulfill their potential. We are excited about the positive impact this partnership will have on the lives and futures of our students.”

This partnership between Panola College and Stephen F. Austin State University marks a significant step forward in providing students with the tools they need to achieve their goals.
