Petroleum Technology
The Petroleum Technology Program is designed to help students prepare for careers
in the oil and gas industry. Employers in the area have expressed a need for qualified
employees in the petroleum field and have worked with Panola College to design a program
to meet that need.
The Panola College Petroleum Technology Program is a four semester program designed
for the student to receive a certificate of completion at the end of both Semester
I and Semester II. Upon completion of the two year program, students will receive
an Associate of Applied Science degree.
Internships with various oil/gas companies may be available after the completion of
the second semester to give students a hands-on training opportunity and knowledge
of real world situations in the field.
This degree can open opportunities in jobs such as a lease operator, facility operator,
engineering assistants, technical sales professionals, instrument technician, motor
control technician, and mechanics.
Panola College offers this program at the Carthage and Center campuses, Nacogdoches
Technical Training Center, and selected classes at Angelina College in Lufkin.
