The Panola College Teacher Education department offers two paths for future teachers
-
the Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree and the Early Childhood Professions certificate program.
the Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree and the Early Childhood Professions certificate program.
The Associate of Arts in Teaching degree is a specialized academic associate degree that transfers to a baccalaureate
program leading to initial Texas teacher certification.
In addition, the AAT can qualify you to work as a Texas public school paraprofessional,

- Choose the EC-6; Grades 4-8; Special Education degree plan if you plan to teach general subjects in grades
pre-kindergarten to six, a specific subject in grades 4-8, or Special Education at any level. - Choose the Grades 6-12; 7-12; 8-12; Other EC-12 degree plan if you plan to teach a specific subject at one
of those levels.
(PROGRAM CLOSING FALL 2019) The Early Childhood Professions (ECP) Certificate program
is for students who plan to work as early childhood educators
in childcare facilities or private preschools.

- The ECP program is a 30-hour program that can be completed in two semesters.
