Hello! Welcome to my website.
If you are interested in a career in communication or if you just want to increase your knowledge or improve your skills in communication, you are in the right place. I have more than 30 years' experience in professional communication, working for newspapers, nonprofits, government agencies and corporations. Communication majors today are learning about converging media. No longer do journalism majors go straight to newspaper jobs. These days, you need to know how to write for all forms of media, from the web to broadcast forms of communication. Technology continues to change the way we communicate. Students text message each other instead of talking face-to-face. People share their deepest thoughts in online blogs. And with each new form of communication, we face challenges in questions about privacy and free speech. In my classes, we learn about media literacy, which helps students evaluate and understand how various forms of media impact their lives. Taking communication classes at Panola College prepares students for a media career, and also provides an opportunity to keep up with what's happening on campus. Since 1948 Panola College students have published The Pony Express - now The Pony Express Online. If you are interested in working on the newspaper, sign up for Student Publications. We are always looking for students who are interested in covering campus activities, including sports and entertainment events.
