Description: The jazz ensemble provides a musical performing opportunity for Panola College students who play trumpet, saxophone, trombone, and rhythm section instruments. Students will be exposed to all styles of jazz ensemble literature, including swing, rock and latin styles.  Although this class is open to all Panola College students, instructor approval is required. Performances: In the fall semester, the jazz ensemble performs at the Texas State Fair and in the Fall Concert on campus. In the spring, this group performs for civic functions, area high schools, and on the Spring Concert on campus. Attendance Policy:  All students are expected to attend all classes and to report to class on time.  Students who miss more than four rehearsals a semester will have their semester grade dropped by one letter for each succeeding absence. Students who miss a performance will lose two letter grades as well as possible non-renewal of their band scholarship.
