Description: The concert band provides a musical performing opportunity for Panola College students. Students will be exposed to all styles of musical literature, as well as serving as the "pep" band for the Panola College basketball teams. Although this class is open to all Panola College students, instructor approval is required.
Performances: Typically, the concert band performs twice during the fall term: a fall concert and a basketball band performance. The spring semester includes six to eight basketball games and one spring concert. Smaller ensembles will be extracted from the concert band to perform at various college, civic and public school performances. The smaller ensembles include the brass, woodwind, and percussion ensembles.
Attendance Policy: All students are expected to attend all classes and to report to class on time. Students who miss more than four rehearsals a semester will have their semester grade dropped by one letter for each succeeding absence. Students who miss a performance will lose two letter grades as well as face non-renewal of their band scholarship.
