WELCOME TO THE GENERAL BUSINESS HOME PAGE!

• Interested in pursuing a career in business but not interested in four years of college?

• Do you need to update management, supervisory, or human relations skills?

• Need to improve your knowledge of accounting, computer skills, marketing, or professional speaking?

• Want to complete your degree or certificate online?

If so, the General Business program can provide the training needed to prepare you for an exciting career. Panola College now offers a General Business Associate of Applied Science degree and a two-semester certificate. Combining both applied hands-on courses and university transfer courses, this program promises to be valuable to those who want a two-year degree or those who might later want to transfer to a university for more educational work. Each of the courses in this program are offered online and in the traditional classroom.

You may notice some of your classes are being taught in Canvas this semester instead of WebCT. Canvas is Panola College's new learning management system which will be used by the entire college faculty beginning in the spring.

In Canvas, instructor and student can have a conversation on an actual assignment page. This makes it much easier for instructors to give feedback to a student and for both parties to keep up with the conversation. Students can be reminded of deadlines via email, text, or Facebook. The transition from WebCT to Canvas will take a little time for instructors and students, but it should be well worth the effort.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is a newly chartered organization on campus for business students. If you are interested in developing leadership, communication, and team building skills, or simply looking for an organization to meet and network with other business students, then Phi Beta Lambda is the organization for you.

To join the Panola College chapter of PBL, all you have to do is:

1. Be a Panola College student majoring in business or a business-related career.

2. Contact Jo Ellen Gates at (903) 693-1164 or jgates@panola.edu.

3. Come to the meetings.

4. Become an officer or participate in organizational events.

5. Pay PBL dues—currently just $16.
