The Dual Credit Early Admission Program at Panola College offers an opportunity for high school students to earn credits toward a college degree while completing requirements for high school graduation. The program is not designed to supplant that of the high school, but is structured to permit selected students to make more constructive use of their time. EligibilityThe student is subject to the following requirements:
Admission to the College does not guarantee enrollment in all courses. Two weeks prior to being considered for admission, the following items must be on file in the Panola College Admissions/Records Office:
Each semester/session thereafter the student must bring to registration a properly completed permission form from the high school counselor. Escrow CreditCollege credit will be transcripted but held in escrow until the student furnishes an official transcript from the high school showing that he/she has graduated. INSTITUTIONAL AGREEMENT: Panola College claims funding for all high school students earning concurrent (dual) credit based on an agreement between the Commissioners of Education and Higher Education. Upon affixing the required signatures on the DUAL CREDIT/EARLY ADMISSION PERMISSION FORM, the high school establishes a valid agreement with Panola College. Dual Credit/Early Admission: Test ScoresACADEMIC PROGRAMS Admission to the College does not guarantee enrollment in all courses. Unless exempted due to exceptional ACT, SAT, or TAKS scores, each early admission applicant must have taken and passed at least one section of an approved Texas Success Initiative assessment instrument (ASSET, THEA, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER). A high school student who fails to achieve the minimum passing score in the writing, reading, or math section of the assessment test may not enroll in collegiate-level classes related to that section. WORKFORCE/TECHNICAL PROGRAMS High school students who wish to enter only a Level-One certificate program must first pass all sections of the state mandated exit-level test or otherwise meet graduation requirements. The student who is not required to take the exit-level test should pass at least one part of a Texas Success Initiative assessment instrument. Any exceptions may be made by the Vice President of Instruction upon receiving a written request from the high school counselor prior to registration.
