FILLIES OPEN 2007-08 SEASON WITH TWO WINS

The Panola Fillies opened the 2007-08 season this week with two wins. On Thursday, the Fillies traveled to Denison, TX to take on the Lady Vikings of Grayson College in the season opener. Four Fillies scored in double figures as the ladies downed Grayson 78-60. Satara Harrell led all Fillies scorers with 19, followed closely by fellow sophomore Kim Edmonson who added 18. Melissa White connected on 5-of-10 from the floor to add 12 and Vedrana Milakovic chipped in 10. Edmonson led all rebounders with 7. "It's always nice to pick up a win on the road, but when we can do that to start the season off a good note, I think it's even better," commented coach Tracey Stellato.

The Fillies returned to the hardwood Saturday afternoon, this time at home, to take on the Lady Buffaloes of Arkansas Baptist College. Kim Edmonson exploded for 27 points, going a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, with 6 from beyond the arc. Casie Adams and Vedrana Milakovic notched their first double doubles of the season, with Milakovic netting 18 points, while pulling down 10 rebounds and Adams knocking down 12 points, with 11 rebounds. Saturday's 93-65 saw every Filly break the scoring column at least once. "I thought we got off to an extremely slow start," noted Stellato, "and it was not until Kelsey Harris gave us a spark off the bench defensively that we really got going offensively."

The Fillies return to action next Friday when they will travel to Lufkin to face McLennan Community College in the first game of the Angelina College Lady Roadrunner Classic. Game time for Friday night is 6:00pm. Saturday afternoon the Fillies will tip-off against South Plains College at 1:00pm.  Come out and support your Panola Fillies.
