Southwest Texas C. C. Rodeo Results:
Panola College men’s rodeo team won its first ever team title at a college rodeo this week at SWTXJC in Uvalde TX beating 8 other teams from the southern region. The individual’s that lead the team to the win were Will Foster 1st in the saddle bronc riding, Ryan Thibodeaux 2nd in the tiedown roping, Tilden Hooper 3rd in the bareback riding, Reece Cates 6th in bull riding, and Matt Garner 7th in the bull riding.

The women’s team also did well with Jaclyn Pannell leading the way with 3.2 seconds in the break away roping to win 5th. Ashley Merriwether ran a 16.6 in the barrels to be just outside of the points and place 9th in the barrel racing.

Stephen F. Austin State University Rodeo Results and Fall 2007 Results:

The Panola College Rodeo Team finished the fall semester Rodeo Circuit in first place of the Southern Region.  The Ponies went into this past weekend, at Stephen F. Austin State University, sitting in second place of the Region.  They took second place in the Men’s Team division and jumped into first place in the overall standings in the Southern Region.   

This past week end at Stephen F. Austin, the Panola Men’s team finished second.  Tilden Hooper once again took the title in the bareback competition, and Lucas Butler was second in the saddle bronc.  Ryan Thibodeaux to a 2nd place finish in the calf roping and Friday Wright to a 3rd place finish in the bullriding. 

In the overall standings for the Southern Region the Panola Men’s Team is sitting in 1st place.  Individually, Tilden Hooper is 1st – bareback, Lucas Butler 1st – saddle bronc, Ryan Thibodeaux 1st – calf roping.  Also, Levi Garrett is 4th in the saddle bronc, Friday Wright 3rd –bullriding, Will Foster 6th – saddle bronc, and Reese Cates 6th – bullriding.

 The second half of the NIRA Southern Region Rodeo Circuit will kickoff February 29 in Kingsville, TX hosted Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Panola College Rodeo Results:

The men’s team won second over all out of the 12 teams competing. As individuals Tilden Hooper won the bareback riding, Pat Garrett won the saddle bronc riding Lucas Butler was 2nd in the broncs, Will Foster won the bull riding and Ryan Thibodaux won 4th in the calf roping. The ladies competed  well and were really affected by the weather.

Panola College’s Rodeo Men’s Team has qualified for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Finals.  The National Finals will be held June 16-21, 2008 in Casper Wyoming.
