Theatre Department to present The Princess and the Pea
2/29/08

A domineering, scheming mother. A dopey, naïve son. A mute father. Sounds like typical fare for a classic visit to a psychiatrist, right? Add one exceedingly rare princess and we change the whole dynamic. Thus the fairy tale story based on the timeless children’s favorite, The Princess and the Pea, opens at the Q.M. Martin auditorium March 6, 7, and 8.   Produced by the Panola College Theatre Department the musical, “Once Upon a Mattress” has a cast of more than twenty talented students singing and dancing their way through this delightful family musical.

This is the true story of the Princess and the Pea as told by a wandering minstrel who was there.  Come prepared to laugh as you watch a less than storybook princess try to win the hand of the less than charming Prince Dauntless the Drab.

The show opens each night at 7:00 pm under the musical direction of Sarin Peck, Director of Choirs.  Joyce Hughes brings her skills as the accompanist to the production.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and may be purchased at the door.  For additional information contact the play’s director, Clay Grizzle, at 903-693-2064.
