College Dedicates Room to Mrs. Ida Rose Dietert Moore
On March 31, 2008, Dr. Gregory Powell, President of Panola College, and the Board of Trustees discussed a proposal from Mr. Van Patterson, Director of Institutional Advancement, to recognize the generosity of Mrs. Ida Rose Dietert Moore. In response, the Board agreed to name Room 103 in the Martha Miller Administration Building, the “Ida Rose Dietert Moore Classroom.”
A plaque was recently affixed to the entrance to room A-103 that reads, “This classroom is dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Ida Rose Dietert Moore. Her legacy is a generous heart for Panola College and the community it serves,” said Dr. Powell.
Mrs. Moore was born November 6, 1919 in Kerrville, Texas. She was the daughter of Henry F. and Clara Real Dietert, a pioneer family. She married Mr. C.E. Moore, Jr. from Carthage on October 20, 1956. Shortly thereafter they moved to Carthage and resided there until 1979 when they moved back to Mrs. Moore’s hometown of Kerrville in retirement. Mrs. Moore’s activism in cultural enrichment was well known. She was a member of various civic organizations, including the Carthage Book Club and the Carthage Music Club. Mrs. Moore was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage, Texas.
