Oilman’s Clay Shoot to be Hosted by Panola College
On April 5 Panola College will host an Oilmen’s Clay Shoot at Prairie Creek Sporting Clays. “This is going to be a great event,” said Dr. Joe Shannon, Dean of Instruction. “It will give local oilmen and women an opportunity to learn about our Petroleum Technology Program, meet some of our students, a majority of whom will be working as interns with local companies this summer, eat good food, and have a good time while raising money for a program that will benefit their industry.”
The event will be limited to 300 shooters with half shooting in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. This is not a team event, and scoring will be based on individual scores. Door prizes will be given throughout the day.
“The petroleum technology program was created in response to calls from the industry for employees who could quickly acclimate to the work environment,” said Shannon. “We worked closely with representatives from the industry to create the curriculum; and the feedback we are receiving from our petroleum technology advisory committee indicates to me that we are doing it right, and employers are pleased with our graduates.”
Registration will begin at 7:00 am on April 5, followed by a morning shoot at 8:00 am and lunch at 11:30 am. Registration for the afternoon shoot will begin at 12:30 pm with the competition starting at 1:00 pm.
