ATHENS -
Trinity Valley needs just one more win to capture the Region XIV East Conference
crown after dismissing Panola, 89-83, here Wednesday.
With three games remaining, the Lady Cardinals (22-4, 14-1 in XIV) got a helping
hand from Tyler, which took a 77-76 victory from Blinn (22-4, 12-3). TVCC and
Blinn still have a game in Brenham that may settle the title.
It was TVCC's 18th straight victory.
The Lady Cardinals had nothing but the Fillies on their mind after wasting most
of a 53-30 halftime lead, however.
Panola took 53 shots from beyond the three-point arc to turn things around.
The Fillies were on fire immediately after intermission and with 15 seconds
remaining had closed to within three.
A pair of free throws by Ashley alker secured the win at that point. Panola made
16 of the rainbows, including nine in the final 20 minutes.
TVCC trailed only once before tying the game at 2-2.
