Popular Mystery Writer to Speak at Library

Popular mystery writer and herbalist, Susan Wittig Albert, will visit the Panola College M. P. Baker Library, on Tuesday, April 3, to sign books and speak about her latest work titled, Spanish Dagger.

Susan Wittig Albert is the nationally known creator of the critically-acclaimed China Bayles herbal mysteries. Her latest book is called Spanish Dagger. Albert's novels have catapulted her into national bestseller circles and onto "must-read" booklists across the country. Publishers Weekly says that China Bayles is "in a class with lady sleuths V.I. Warshawski and Stephanie Plum," and the Dallas Morning News calls them "engaging, entertaining, interesting, and instructive." This Texas author's enormously popular books are known for their snappy dialogue, humor, and regional background, as well as for the information about herbs that is woven into the plots.

In addition to the China Bayles books, Albert writes two historical mystery series: one featuring Beatrix Potter as a sleuth, the other a series of Victorian/Edwardian mysteries written with her husband, under the pen name of Robin Paige. She has also written over sixty young adult novels and several non-fiction books.

This lunchbox lecture will be held in the M. P. Baker Library from noon until 1:00 pm. Dr. Albert will speak about her work, answer questions, and sign books, which are available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Barron’s Bookstore.

A light lunch will be served. The event is free and open to the public. Please call Zeny Jett, Director of Library Services, at 903-693-2005 or by email at zjett@panola.edu for additional information.
