M. P. Baker Library to hold 2nd Annual Edible Book Festival
The Panola College M. P. Baker Library invites book artists and cooks to submit an entry for its 2nd Annual Edible Book Festival. The event is part of an International Edible Book Festival, a yearly event that takes place the first week in April throughout the world. This event unites bibliophiles, book artists and food lovers to celebrate the ingestion of culture and its fulfilling nourishment. Participants create edible books that are exhibited, documented, and then consumed.
Entries must be submitted to the M. P. Baker Library by 9:00 a.m. on March 27, 2007. They will be displayed at the M. P. Baker Library until 2 p.m. A three-judge panel will vote on the best entry. The winner will be announced by 4 p.m. and will receive a $50.00 gift certificate.
All entries will be on silent auction until 2:00 p.m. and proceeds collected will go towards the M. P. Baker Library expansion project. The public is invited to participate in this silent auction.
“We are proud to be counted among international participants that include Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Russia,” said Zeny Jett, Director of Library Services. Panola College will be one of seven participants from the state of Texas.
