Date Set For Dinner Theatre
The Panola College Theatre will open its 2007-2008 season September 27, 28, and 29 with a dinner theatre and laughter. The opening show is the melodrama “She Left Her Heart in Texas” by Jay Jennings and Dennis Christilles.
The show starts at 7:00 pm each evening with dinner and the play follows at 8:00. The cost is $18.00 for adults, $15.00 for students with ID, and $8.00 for Panola College students with a meal plan.
The show is directed by the new Drama Instructor, Clay Grizzle, and will be performed in the Studio Theatre located in the Performing Arts Center.
The story is set in Carthage at the end of the 19th century. It has all the elements of traditional melodrama – an evil villain trying to take over the farm, the heroine fighting to save the farm, a not-so-swift hero that tries his hardest, cowboys, city girls, a big chase scene to capture the villain, and, of course, lots of fun.
The cast features talented performers and theatre technicians drawn from high schools across Texas. They include Katie Bagley, Alan Scripsick, and Lawsen Sharpe of Carthage; Sarah Durham, Center; Casidey Graves, Haywood Buras, and Micah Taylor, Gary; Amanda Benner, Gladewater; Justin O’Mara, Cumby; Rush McJilton, Yantis; Luke Clemens, Gilmer; Jerrod Williams, Marshall; Adam Osborn, Pineland; Joe Baker and Joseph Pyle, River Oaks; Travis Ponikiewski, Robert Pitts, and Mitch Fowler, Irving; Cindy Vandegriff and Ben Cheshire, Beckville; Sam Morris, Diana; LaToya Townsend, Mt. Enterprise; Cora Busch and Kyle Shelton, Shelbyville; and Linsey Dugan from Stanton.
