Dr. Lillian Cook, Vice President of Instruction at Panola College, was elected president of Texas Community College Instructional Administrators (TCCIA) at the summer conference in Galveston, Texas, this month.
Serving as treasurer for TCCIA for two years, Dr. Cook was president-elect of the organization in 2006-07. She has been at Panola College for twenty years, serving in administration since 1999. Previously, Dr. Cook taught English and Spanish at the college. As part of the learning experience, she took many students on field trips to England, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, and South America.
The mission of TCCIA includes examining the impact of legislative issues on community colleges, keeping members informed about the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools’ policies affecting community college programs, strengthening instructional programs, developing effective leadership, presenting innovations in teaching, and providing collaboration on issues of common interest to community college leaders. The organization provides excellent professional development and leadership opportunities for community college instructional administrators.
