Fillies draw even in XIV over San Jac
The Panola Watchman
12/10/07
PASADENA - Panola now has a .500 record
again in Region XIV Conference action as it toppled San Jacinto women, 83-73,
here Wednesday. After a painfully slow, 1-2 start in conference, the Fillies are
seemingly back in stride again as they move toward a Saturday battle in Carthage
with potent Odessa College. Game time is 2 p.m. The Fillies (8-4, 2-2) are still
in the second tier of conference as perennial powers Trinity Valley and Tyler
rock along at the top.
The Odessa outing is non-conference. After that, Panola is on Christmas Break
until Jan. 4 when it hosts Murray State.
Trinity Valley comes to Panola Jan. 12 to resume XIV battles, then the Fillies
get a little R&R in Little Rock against Arkansas Baptist, another league
outsider.
Panola had four players hit at least half of their three-point buckets as coach
Tracey Stellato was good to her word to rely more on a guard offense than an
anemic take-it-to-the-paint attack that has them presently stymied..Kim Edmonson
sank four of nine from long distance and had 16 points, as did Vedrana Milakovic,
who drained five of 12 around the key and three of four foul shots. Jasmine
Brown had a pair of treys and 13 points. Teammates Cassie Adams and Melissa
White added 12 and 11 to the coffers. Adams and Cora Valentine led the Fillies
with five assists.
