splits conference twin bill with Texarkana

CARTHAGE — Panola College rebounded from a narrow 2-1 defeat in the first game to beat Texarkana College 6-2 in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader at Jim Reeves Memorial Field.
The split leaves Panola at 5-5 in Region XIV Conference play and 20-16 overall. Texarkana is 6-4 in conference.
In the second game, the Ponies scored four runs in the first inning and two in the second to take the win. Miguel Alicea went 2-for-4 from the plate with a double, while Cody Jones also went 2-for-4.
Chad Sherman started on the mound and recorded nine strikeouts in notching the win to improve his record to 5-2.
In the first game, Panola managed just three hits. Taylor Davis went the distance on the mound, striking out four. He is 3-4 on the season.
Panola hosts Bossier City Community College on Saturday.
