Hedges Receives Statewide Honor

Liz Hedges, Panola College theater professor and director, was named Texas Community College Educator of the Year by the Texas Educational Theater Association (TETA) at their annual convention in Austin.  Royal Brantley, President of TETA and Chair at West Texas A&M, presented the award to Hedges on behalf of approximately 3,000 TETA members.

Hedges has been teaching theater and speech classes at Panola College for 27 years.  During that time she and her students have won many acting, directing, and technical awards at the state level.  Under her direction the Panola Theater Department has provided an abundance of quality entertainment for the college and for the community as well.

“Ms. Hedges deserves this statewide recognition.  She has continuously worked to promote excellence among her students. In addition, she has provided opportunities for many people to enjoy the performing arts at Panola College,” said Dr. Lillian Cook, VP and Dean of Instruction at Panola College.
