Panola College Hosts Grants Writing Workshop

A grants writing workshop sponsored by the Texas Collaborative for Teaching Excellence was held on June 19 at Panola College.  Dr. Lillian Cook, Ms. Ann Morris, Dr. Barbara Cordell, and Ms. Mary Chance were the presenters. 

Approximately 30 people from community colleges and universities across Texas learned the basics of grant writing.  Presenters covered topics that included sources of grant funds, steps to consider before writing a grant, the writing process, and general tips for better grant writing.  They also spent some time performing hands-on activities and searches on the Internet.

The Texas Collaborative for Teaching Excellence, administered by Del Mar College, provides professional development resources and activities that benefit community colleges through funds from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Act.  Panola College is a partner institution in the grant.
