LOSE THOSE EXTRA POUNDS AT THE COLLEGE FITNESS CENTER

The beginning of a new year signals the renewing of familiar resolutions to lose weight and with it, the reopening of the Panola College Fitness Center. Scheduled to open January 17, the facility is equipped with cardiovascular equipment such as treadmills, stair-stepping machines, stationary bikes, rowing machines, two weight rooms, six racquetball courts and a basketball court, renovated dressing rooms, and convenient parking.

“A small group of Panola faculty and staff gets together every week to play racquetball.” said Van Patterson, Director of Institutional Advancement. “It’s great exercise and a lot of fun. Whether I win or lose I feel better physically and find that hitting the racquetball as hard as I can across the court is a great stress reliever.”

Patterson continued with a grin, “It’s not very often you see a member of the Carthage Lions or Kiwanis Clubs in here working out, but if a few of them would join we could have a little civic club racquetball tournament.”

The Fitness Center is open to the public Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m. – 9 a.m.; Monday- Thursday 5 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.; Saturday - 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday- 4p.m. - 8 p.m. The facility is open when the College is open, so memberships are sold that correspond to the fall, spring and summer semesters.

Membership packages are available for individuals and families at reasonable rates. To acquire a membership, first purchase one at the Panola College Business Office.  Then bring the receipt to the Fitness Center where a membership card will be issued for the individual or family member and a membership application completed. For additional information, please call 903-693-2097.
