PANOLA COLLEGE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR NEW
ONLINE FLEX DELIVERY NURSING PROGRAM
The Panola College Associate Degree Nursing program provides a high quality education to students seeking a career as a registered nurse. Once students have completed the program, they are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a Registered Nurse.
In an effort to increase the availability of this program to more working men and women, the Panola College ADN program is now offering an internet based nursing program leading to the RN. The “Online FLEX Delivery Program” makes it possible for students to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing through a non-traditional format that combines online classes and flexible clinical experiences. The clinical experience will still be conducted in person, but will be scheduled evenings and weekends. This enables students to continue working while pursuing a degree in nursing.
According to Dr. Barbara Cordell, the program’s director, “In the past, the traditional full-time program for nursing students has not been very flexible for those who need to continue working full-time. We are proud to be offering an option for these students. Hopefully, this will enable more people to enter the nursing profession and help to alleviate the shortage.”
The deadline for application is March 1, 2006. The first group of students for this innovative program will be admitted in the summer of 2006. Because the program requires students to be very self-directed and highly self-motivated, admission criteria differ from that of conventional students.
