PANOLA COLLEGE PROFESSOR, LARRY ALLEN, TAKES OFFICE
Panola College professor, Larry Allen, took office this spring as president of the Texas Community College Teachers Association. Comprised of educators from every teaching discipline, as well as counselors, librarians, and administrators, the organization's
approximately 6,000 members come from all public and independent community, junior, and technical colleges in Texas. It is the largest organization of postsecondary educators in Texas-more than twice as large as all other such organizations combined.
Mr. Allen has taught accounting and economics at Panola College since 1988. He received a bachelor of business administration and master of business administration degrees from Baylor University. He serves in a number of leadership positions at Panola College, and is the Chapter Advisor of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
Mr. Allen has previously served as the state association's treasurer, secretary, vice president, and president-elect.
TCCTA regularly is called upon to provide information and testimony to committees of the Texas Legislature and to agencies of state government, including the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Authority for management of the affairs of the organization is vested in an executive committee, consisting of six officers elected
at-large by the general membership. The organization publishes a journal, the TCCTA Messenger.
