DR. TAYLOR GOES TO WASHINGTON

This fall Panola College Government Professor, Dr. Charles Taylor, will be taking an American Government class to Washington, D. C. The course will be open to students seeking college credit and members of the public who are interested in learning more about our nation’s capitol.

The group will depart from Houston Intercontinental Airport on August 6 and return on August 10. The group is tentatively planning to visit the Smithsonian Institute, Supreme Court, Capitol and Congressional buildings, the Lincoln Memorial, George Washington’s home, the Washington Monument, Ford Theatre, the National Cathedral, the Vietnam and Iwo Jima Memorials, and the Pentagon. If time permits, Dr. Taylor also hopes to be able to visit the White House and Holocaust Museum.

To assure easy access to historical sites, the group will stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, located in the Courthouse District of Arlington, Virginia, less than two miles from downtown Washington, DC. Washington Insiders, a proven and successful touring organization, will lead the group through the greater DC area.

The price for airfare, hotel and four breakfast and evening meals will be approximately $1200. The price will vary depending upon occupancy choices. Those not seeking college credit may register for the trip only.

“This is going to be a great adventure in a city teeming with history and knowledge,” said Dr. Taylor. “Seating is limited so it is important that those interested in traveling with us contact me as soon as possible so I can reserve a place for them.” For more information please call Dr. Charles Taylor at 903-693-2047.
