“Staying Healthy and Fit”

The 2004 Panola College Associate Degree Nursing class is proud to announce that its Fall Health Fair is scheduled for October 20, from 7:30 am to noon in the Arthur Johnson Gymnasium on Panola College’s main campus in Carthage, Texas.  Panola College ADN and Licensed Vocational Nursing students, along with Occupational Therapy Assistant and Health Information Technology students will be manning booths and hosting this event.

Representatives from across the region will also be on hand, to bring you the latest information and technology to enhance your health and fitness.  Dr. Jeannie Golden will offer glucometer checks.  Representatives from Willis Knighton Medical Center will provide bone density screenings for a fee and Hill Chiropractic will perform neck scans.  Information about coping with diabetes will be available from Memorial Medical Center, and members of the LSU Medical Center will present techniques for coping with anxiety and depression, while a massage therapist from Bobbie’s Health Food gives visitors a free 5 minute massage.  Lincare will have information about CPAP and representatives from Ruth’s Health Foods, Panola Care and Rehabilitation, the Texas Department of Health, Special Health, WIC, At Home Health, and Bethany Home Health will be on hand to inform the public about the services they provide.

People of all ages will find plenty to see and do. The Carthage Fire Department will present information on fire safety, while the Police Department informs visitors about the dangers of drinking and driving. The public will also have the opportunity to donate blood to The Blood Center or tour an ambulance provided by ETMC. Representatives from ETMC will also be doing lab work from 7:30 am until 8:30 am for a fee.  Those who wish to have lab work done should avoid eating breakfast that morning until after their blood is drawn.
