COLLEGE CHORALE AND PIPERS TO PERFORM

The Panola College Chorale and Panola Pipers will be performing their first concert of the year on Thursday, October 14 at 7:30 pm.  The performance will be held in the Q. M. Martin Auditorium. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.

The program will feature five local choirs in a segment called “Director’s Choice”.   According to Professor Larry Brumley, each choir will join the College Chorale on stage to perform a favorite choir anthem selected by the guest directors.

The guest choirs include the Carthage High School A Cappella Choir, Tommy Corley, director; the Central Baptist Church Choir, Harlan Hall, director; the First Baptist Church Choir, David Yarbrough, director; the First United Methodist Church Choir, Larry Brumley, director; and the Southside Baptist Church Choir, Kevin Cook, director. Lauren Griffin from Carthage High School will also play the French Horn during one of the anthems.

The Panola College Chorale will begin the program with two exciting pieces. Another special highlight of the concert will be special guest composer and conductor, Dr. Benjamin Harlan from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.  Dr. Harlan will conduct two of his own compositions as well as perform on the piano.

The always entertaining and popular Panola Pipers will perform a show entitled, “Golden Oldies….Remember When?” Their show will highlight such memorable tunes as, “Celebration,” “Route 66,”  “A Beach Boys Medley,” “Born to Hand Jive” and “Oh, Happy Day”.

The Chorale invites everyone to come and enjoy an evening of beautiful music and lively entertainment. For additional information call 903-693-2061.
