Education class to be taught at Panola College

As part of the Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree recently approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Education 1301 will be taught at Panola College in the spring.  The new course focuses on participating in early field observations at schools with diverse populations.  It also contains material on the culture and history of education in America, as well as field experiences and projects.

Education 1301 is a first introduction to teaching, which will give the student an idea of what teaching is.  Hopefully, it will help recruit teachers to the field and provide a sound basis for the pedagogy of education that will come later in the educational experience.  The AAT provides for a fully transferable degree for those who want to become teachers and transfer to state universities.

Sharon Poss, veteran teacher in public education, will teach the new course at Panola College on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:45 p.m. in Miller 103.  For more information contact Dr. Lillian Cook at 903-693-2033 or lcook@panola.edu.
