DUCKWORTH SIGNS WITH PANOLA
Joins Long List of Carthage High School Exes That Played for Panola

Carthage Bulldog, Eric Duckworth has signed a scholarship to continue his baseball career and education at Panola College. Duckworth, a top prospect for the last three seasons, helped lead the Bulldogs to within one game of the state tournament. In 2002, he was a key player for the Mickey Mantle World Series Champions, the Dallas Knights.  Eric was also an All District and All East Texas first team selection in 2003. This year Duckworth hit five homeruns, had 26 RBI’s and a   .383 batting average. 

“Eric will be joining a long list of Carthage Bulldogs who went on to play baseball for Panola College,” said Head Baseball Coach Don Clinton.  “CHS has a strong program and I appreciate how important their players are to our program.”  

Since 1996, eighteen Carthage Bulldogs have played for Coach Clinton. They include, San Diego Padres pitcher Brian Lawrence, Texas A&M All-American Shawn Schumacher, who also played in the St. Louis Cardinal’s organization, and Derek Brewster who went on to play at Louisiana Tech University and then in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.  

Other players that used Panola as a stepping stone to play baseball at the collegiate level include: Luke Alexander – University of Oklahoma; Dan Reed – University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Charles Foshee – Henderson State University; Chad Darnell – Louisiana Tech University;

Eric Brewster – Louisiana Tech University; Luke Miller – Dallas Baptist University; Eddie Marshall – University of Arkansas at Monticello; Josh Ross – LeTourneau University; and Garien Berry – University of Texas at Tyler.  Other Carthage exes that played under Coach Clinton include: Trent Pride, Justin O’Neal, Kendrick Williams, and Jeremy Hight.  Former Bulldog Bradley Curry is currently a sophomore at Panola.
