PANOLA COLLEGE ADDS PROGRAMS AND COURSES

Panola College recently added two new Criminal Justice courses to its curriculum and completed development of a certificate program in Environmental Technology (GIS).

The freshman level course, CRIJ 1301 Introduction to Criminal Justice will be taught this spring by Deputy Chief of Police Mark Dickerson of the Henderson Police Department. The class will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:45 p.m. The sophomore level course, CRIJ 2314 Criminal Investigation will be led by Mr. Thomas J. Tiefenwerth, Professor of Psychology, Sociology and Criminal Justice. Professor Tiefenwerth’s class will meet on Thursdays from 10:50-12:05. Both criminal justice courses will be useful for students who are pursuing a four-year criminal justice degree.

This spring students may also choose to enroll in Panola College’s Environmental Technology certificate program.  The program includes three courses in geographic information systems (GIS) and courses in soil and water sampling and analysis, as well as courses in environmental science and conservation.  According to industry experts, students with skill in these areas, especially in the use of GIS software, will be in demand in the workplace.

The Environmental Technology certificate program and both Criminal Justice courses will be taught at Panola College’s main campus in Carthage, Texas. Online registration is currently underway for previously enrolled students or transfer students from other colleges.
