FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT TO PRESENT “THE ALLURE OF THE WEST”

Images of cowboys, outlaws, the lone prairie, wide-open spaces, and adventure come to mind when we think of the Western frontier.  Panola College instructors Ann Boland, Freddy Mason and Karen McBee invite you to revisit our frontier heritage as they present “The Allure of the West” on Tuesday, March 11 at Panola College in the Ballroom.  The program will be presented at noon and at 7:00 p.m.

Ann Boland will present the contributions to Western art made by artists Charles Russell and Thomas Moran.  A special guest appearance by Charles Russell (Panola College student Joshua Carter) will be a highlight.   Freddy Mason will speak for authors Larry McMurtry and Louis L’Amour sharing their cowboy tales and writings on Billy the Kid.   Joyce Hughes and Dr. Karen McBee will perform two piano arrangements of “western” music written by American composer Aaron Copland.  The two pianists will present selections from the BILLY THE KID ballet and the piece “Hoe-down” from RODEO.

Since, there will be no admission charge, there is no reason why ya’ll can’t come out and enjoy “The Allure of the West”.  For additional information, please call 903-693-2053.
