PANOLA COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL CAMP SCHEDULED FOR JULY  

Starting July 7, Panola College will be conducting volleyball skills camps for junior high and high school athletes. Campers will be taught many of the general and advanced skills that helped the Panola College Fillies to secure four conference championships. 

The Panola College volleyball staff believes that individual time and instruction is the key to successful learning and structures camps and clinics appropriately. The camps will be held at the Carthage campus in the Arthur Johnson Gymnasium from July 7-12. 

General Skills camps will be held from July 7 –9. High school students, grades 10 – 12, will meet from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Junior high students, grades 6 – 9 will meet from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. The fee for the general skills camp is $45 for junior high students and $55 for high school students. These camps will cover all the different skills of competitive volleyball such as serve receive, passing, defensive movement, serving and hitting. General conditioning will also be part of the training with a concentration in building a solid foundation of both technical and physical abilities needed to play competitive volleyball.  

The Advanced Skills camps begin on July 10 and run through the twelfth. High school students, grades 10 – 12, will meet from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Junior high students, grades 6 – 9 will meet from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. The fee for the advanced skills camp is $60 for junior high students and $70 for high school students. The advanced camp is designed to instruct athletes who are already fundamentally sound with techniques used at the college and professional level. In small group sessions, athletes will be trained to understand advanced levels of offensive and defensive movements popular with coaches at the highest levels. Athletes will also be assessed for quickness, jumping ability, and technical proficiency.
