NURSING STUDENTS AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS

The Panola College Associate Degree Nursing program is proud to announce that the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board awarded State-nursing scholarships for the 2003-04 school year to three Panola ADN students.

“Starla Horton of Carthage was awarded the  ‘LVN to RN’ scholarship, Stanton Hughes of Tenaha the ‘Professional Nursing Student Scholarship’, and Janice Denby of Shelbyville received the ‘Professional Rural Scholarship,’ said Dr. Barbara Cordell, Director of the Panola College ADN program. “They have worked very hard and should be proud of their achievement. Mr. Hughes in particular, is to be commended because he has now earned the scholarship two years in a row”.

“These scholarships are awarded to students in nursing programs at colleges and universities across Texas, so the competition is very intense,” said Mr. Tommy Young, Director of Financial Aid. “This says a lot for our nursing programs - the quality of the programs themselves, the quality of our instructors, and the quality of students in these programs.  We congratulate these students for their accomplishments and wish them continued success throughout their career."
