Founded in 1947, Panola College has a rich tradition of helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. The main campus is located in Carthage with centers in Jefferson, Marshall and Center, Texas.

Panola College graduates transfer to a wide range of four-year colleges and universities. Transfer students from Panola College have been recognized by Southwest Texas State University and the University of North Texas for their success. Dr. Trauth, President of SWT reported that Panola College transfers, after one year at SWT, earned an average of 28 semester credit hours with a 3.10 GPA.  This exceeded the figures for all 2-year college student transfers who earned an average of 20 semester credit hours with a 2.56 GPA. While the University of North Texas reported that the average cumulative GPA of Panola College transfer students was 3.006 which surpassed the average cumulative GPA for all Texas Community College Transfers of 2.833 and the average cumulative GPA of native (UNT) students of 2.831.
