PANOLA COLLEGE BASEBALL PLAYERS SELECTED TO All-STAR
TEAM
Each year
junior college coaches select top sophomore prospects from Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana
to showcase in the Junior College Baseball All-Star Game.
This year,
four Panola College baseball players have been selected to play in the All-Star Game on
September 26 and 27 at The Ballpark on the campus of Baylor University.
The players
selected from Panola College were David Hoke, Caleb Barton, Taylor Richards, and Brett
Fenner. Hoke is a first baseman from
Kingwood, TX. Last year, Hoke led the Ponies
in hitting with a .383 batting average and 10 homeruns.
Caleb Barton, a left-handed pitcher from Seguin, TX. posted a 6-5 record,
and a 3.13 ERA on the mound last year for the Ponies.
Taylor Richards, an outfielder from Brazoswood High School in Lake Jackson,
TX. had a .360 avg. and led the team with 39 runs batted in as a freshman. Brett Fenner, a second baseman from Mesquite
Poteet High School, had a batting average of .364 and led the team with 16 stolen bases.
The weekend will consist of one game on Friday, Sept. 26 and a double header on Saturday, Sept. 27. It is a great honor and privilege for our players to be selected. Usually there is hundreds of university and pro scouts are at this game. It gives the scouts an opportunity to see many elite players at one time, and they come from all over the country to scout, noted Don Clinton, Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Panola College.
