ADAMS TO RETIRE FROM
PANOLA
On May 7, Panola College will honor long-time employee John Adams.
Mr. Adams worked at the college from October of
1973 until December 31, 2002.
For almost 30 years, Mr. Adams has renovated classrooms, laid miles
of tile, replaced reams of carpeting, and repaired plumbing and electrical problems at the
main campus in Carthage and at centers in Jefferson, Center and Marshall TX. His hard work
and knowledge kept many of the older buildings on campus, such as the Merle Glass
residence hall and M.P. Baker Library operating smoothly.
Mr. Adams is a master
craftsman and the fruits of his labor are obvious across the campus, said Dr.
Gregory Powell, President of Panola College. One cannot enter any building on the
colleges grounds without seeing something that Mr. Adams built, repaired or improved
upon.
Mike Edens, Panola College Business Office Manager commented that Mr.
Adams reputation as a competent and knowledgeable building superintendent was well
deserved. When I first began working at Panola College, I remember people making
statements like, Mr. John can fix it and we can get John Adams to build
it. After working with Mr. John Adams for the past 10 years, I realize how true
those statements were. The College will truly miss him, said Edens.
Mr. Adams is also well liked and admired. Mrs. Dazell Hicks, Administrative Secretary to the Dean of Instruction commented, Mr. Adams is an all around good hearted man who is appreciated by all.
