CARTHAGE ROTARY CLUB TO HONOR VETERANS

On February 16, during half time of the Panola Ponies game, the Carthage Rotary Club and Panola College will honor the following Rotarians who served their country during World War II: John Burton, Ed Clark, Vernon Dickey, Farris Ivie, Lovell Kelley, John Morrison, Charles Pool, Ferrell Smith, W.C. Smith, Lewis Stephens, Morris Luper and Ray Shepherd.

The Panola College Band will play the Air Force, Army and Navy Hymns as Larry Allen, Economic Instructor, introduces each veteran. Following the introductions, the Rotary Club President, Van Patterson will present Elizabeth Hedges with a check for $500. These funds will be used to help establish the Panola County Veteran’s Memorial.

“The public is invited to help us celebrate these great men and the sacrifices they made for our country,” said Patterson. The Ponies will begin playing at 8:00 p.m. against Paris Junior College in the Arthur Johnson Gymnasium.
