PANOLA PONY VOTED
FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN
Omar Thomas a freshman from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has posted
some exceptional numbers during his brief stay at Panola College. He has led the nation in
scoring and rebounding this year and was recently selected to the NJCAA first team
All-American Team.
Thomas scored 1027 points in 30 games this year, an average of 34.2
points per game. He also led the nation in rebounds by grabbing 519 rebounds, an average
of 17.3 per game. Omar made 286 of the 333 free throws he attempted this year, an average
of 86%. He also shattered a 30-year Panola College Basketball record of 57 points scored
in a single game when he scored 70 points against a visiting team.
Joining Thomas on the first team All-American Team is Jason Rogan of NW Mississippi CC, Devin Smith of Coffeyville CC, Mike Williams of Schoolcraft College, Nate Daniels of Broward CC, Jaime Uoreda of Dixie State College, Qyntel Woods of NE Mississippi CC, Jamar Smith of Allegany College, Jeff Graves of Iowa Western CC, and Robert Whaley of Barton County CC.
