ECLECTIC CONCERT
TO FEATURE SHREVEPORT SYMPHONY ARTIST

On April 11, at 7:00 p.m., George Hancock, a member of the Shreveport Symphony will perform a varied program of music ranging from jazz to classical and standard repertoire at the Panola College Ballroom.

Mr. George Hancock will be featured at the Carthage Federated Music Club’s annual scholarship concert. Mr. Hancock, principal flutist for the Shreveport Symphony, will perform on the recorder as well as the flute.

Because the concert is underwritten by area businesses, Beth Brumley, President of the Carthage Music Club, says that there will be no admission charge for the performance.

The Carthage Music Club has used the funds raised by its annual concert to fund a scholarship at the College since 1951. The Carthage Music Club Scholarship is awarded each year to assist a student majoring in music. This scholarship is the oldest in existence at the College.

“For more than 50 years the Music Club has been supporting the College. The funds raised from this concert will make it possible for a student to attend the College,” says Joyce Hughes, chairman of the Music Club’s artist committee.

“This concert will be a wonderful cultural enrichment activity that we hope fellow music aficionados and the faculty, staff, and students at the College will enjoy. We especially look forward to seeing members of the College community and hope they will make a special effort to join us. It is also important to reward the generosity of our underwriters by having a good crowd for the concert,” explained Mrs. Hughes.
