PANOLA HIRES DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

 

     Panola College and Shelby College Center announce the employment of Franklin Head as Director and Instructor of Industrial Technology for the new Shelby Regional Training Center (SRTC) in Center, Texas.  Mr. Head has a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Technology from The University of Texas at Tyler, a B.S. from Lamar University in Beaumont, and has completed graduate courses in Mid-Management from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches.  He has been an educator for the past 22 years, and has experience in industry and as a business owner.  Franklin Head, his wife, Sheila, and three children have been long-time residents of East Texas.

           The SRTC Director's job responsibilities cover a wide scope including administrative, recruitment, and instruction.  He will work closely with the Director of Shelby College Center, the local Industrial Technology Advisory Committee, school districts, students, adult workforce, industries, businesses, and Panola College.

      The Industrial Technology courses offered at the SRTC facility will enable the students to attain a strong background in electrical, refrigeration principles, hydraulics, welding, computer applications, communications, safety, and various other related areas.  Students can pursue an Industrial Technology Support Certificate, Industrial Technology Specialist Certificate or an Industrial Technology Associates of Applied Science Degree. In addition, the Associates of Applied Science Degree offered through the SRTC, can be applied toward a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree at Stephen F. Austin University.      

      Mr. Head stated, "I am very proud to be associated with the Shelby Regional Training Center.  There has been a long-time need in the Deep East Texas area for a place where the residents could receive Industrial Technology and Maintenance Training.  We look forward to serving adults already in the workforce, as well as part-time and full-time students.  The citizens of Shelby County had a vision and laid the groundwork long before I came on board.  There is much enthusiasm to get the SRTC built and operational.   I am grateful for all of the support."

Panola College has selected Franklin Head as Director of the Industrial Technology Department and Instructor for the Shelby Regional Training Center.  The training center, now under construction near the new Center High School, is scheduled to open in August.
