Former Panola Fillie All-American, Rosie Walker-Montgomery, Inducted in Women's Basketball Hall of Fame
On Saturday, June 9, 2001, in Knoxville, TN, The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame will induct 10 new inductees. Rosie Walker-Montgomery, former Panola College Fillie will be part of the 2001 class.
As a two time All-American at Panola College, Walker led the Fillies to two Conference Championships and back-to-back National Titles in 1977 and 1978. She holds nearly all offensive records at Panola. After Panola College Ms. Walker-Montgomery attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she continued to dominate women's basketball at the NCAA level. She was a two time All-American for SFA and holds 4 Ladyjack records, including career scoring average (23.7), career field goal percentage (.660), and most points in a single season (912).
In 1979 Walker represented the United States as a member of the 1979 Pan American Games team, and was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team. In February of this year, Walker-Montgomery was inducted into the Stephen F. Austin State University Athletic Hall of Fame.
