PANOLA COLLEGE HOSPITALITY PROGRAM PRODUCES WINNERS

Chicago (June 8, 2001) – Student chefs dream of future award-winning meals they’ll prepare. For Panola College student chef Lynn Frederickson that dream became a reality when her recipe Skirt Steak Roulade was selected for the first place prize in the Mrs. Dash "Seasoned Professional" Recipe Contest Finals held Tuesday at the city’s premiere culinary school, The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago (CHIC).

Frederickson’s first place winning recipe is a 16" flavored tortilla spread with Mrs. Dash flavored cream cheese layered with jalapeno pepper cheese and fresh vegetables rolled together with seasoned grilled skirt steak.

Lynn Frederickson is also a recipient of the $2000 National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship. The Association described Ms. Frederickson’s academic background, work experience, career goals and commitment to the industry as "very impressive".

Lynn has completed 19 hours in the Panola College – Jefferson College Center Hospitality Program and is currently enrolled in her second practicum. She looks forward to completing her Associate Degree at Panola College before transferring to Wiley College for her Bachelors Degree.

Galen Ford, another Panola College Hospitality student, also received a $2000 National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship for College Students. Galen, is the Event’s Coordinator for the Excelsior House Hotel in Jefferson TX and is enrolled in the Hospitality Practicum this summer. She plans to complete her Associate Degree at Panola College before transferring to Wiley College for a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
