Transition Process Currently, there is a shortage of registered nurses in Texas and across the Nation. To help meet the need, the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program at Panola College has taken steps to streamline the transition process for Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) seeking a Registered Nursing license. “Licensed Vocational Nurses will no longer be required to have six months of acute care experience before applying to the RN program,” said Dr. Barbara Cordell, Director Associate Degree Nursing. “In addition, they will only have to have completed four of seven required academic courses before entering the clinical portion and will not have to wait for a cohort of ten students.” “In the past these issues have been obstacles for LVNs wishing to pursue the Associate Degree leading to the RN”, said Dr. Cordell. “Now students will be able to begin their studies sooner. For more information please call the ADN department at 903-694-4000 or go to www.panola.edu. |

DONATE-A-BOOK PROGRAM FILLS
BOOKSHELVES The M. P. Baker Library at Panola College is using the Alibris Donate-A-Book program to provide an easy way for generous donors to fill their bookshelves. Librarians, teachers and other nonprofit organizations can create a wish list online using the vast Alibris book catalog. Anyone can then go to Alibris (www.alibris.com) and purchase those items and have them shipped directly to the charity. Donors can choose to donate as little or as much as possible with the click of a button.
