Industrial Technology is a program designed to prepare students for a career in troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining equipment in an industrial environment. The program is designed to provide students with a broad background and with basic skills in business, computing, drafting, electronics, mathematics, manufacturing processes, and welding.Rapidly changing technology requires individuals with flexible skills and the ability to learn and adapt rather than those equipped with particular technical skills; the Industrial Technology program prepares students for this ever changing environment.
The curriculum was developed using employer-defined skills which are taught in a hands-on environment. The program will include laboratory training using state-of-the-art instruments, materials, and techniques employed in the industry; appropriate safety training; problem solving skills, including statistical analysis of data; effective teamwork, oral and written communication skills. Instruction is offered both in a traditional academic setting and internships are available to allow the students actual industrial experience.
The program complies with the objectives and curriculum developed by the local Industrial Technology Advisory Committee.
Instruction is offered in order to meet schedule requirements for a wide variety of students. Classes are offered during normal class schedule, at night, and on-line when practical.
